All groups woke up to an early bright morning. Good weather at all campsites. All campers hydrated throughout the day to cope with activities under the hot weather. All campers checked for wellness
Faster 1 – Water confidence, white water rafting, flying fox @ Jeram Besu Adventure resort.
Safety briefing conducted. Campers at Faster 1 learned how to use their floatation devices, learned to row as a team and build confidence to move through the river rapids. They also learned to conquer the heights with the flying fox, sailing through the air across the river. River crossing also conducted as campers moved along a rope across the river. After freshening up, campers moved off to Pasir Sia beach for dinner and to camp overnight in preparation for the cycling expedition scheduled on the next day. Campers enjoyed themselves lying on the beach counting the beautiful stellar constellations in the night skies above.
Faster 2 – 52km Cycling expedition to Taman Negara from Pasir Sia.
All cyclists checked for wellness and hydration. Bicycle equipment check. Cyclists travel in a convoy escorted by road marshals, safety lead vehicle, lorry with reserve bicycles , a bus and an ambulance. Waterpoints, rest points and lunch point sited along the route at regular intervals. Undulating roads provide a good physical and mental challenge to our cyclists and their perseverance prevailed with only 8 out of a total of 89 cyclists unable to complete the 52KM route due to fatigue. The 8 cyclists are rested completely in the accompanying bus. Cyclists transported to Jeram Besu Adventure resort for an overnight stay in preparation for the next day’s adventure activities.
Stronger – Setup settlement , Learning with the Orang Asli on survival skills.
Stronger group travel by boat to the Orang Asli settlement to clear their land and build their own huts, cooking areas, latrines. Our campers work together to complete all tasks by lunch and proceed onto survival lessons such as the process of starting a fire, cooking, wood carving, use of blowpipes taught by the Orang Asli. Dinner follows with the campers cooking their own rice and chicken dinner. Bonding and activity time with trainers and teachers follow before it’s time for sleep in their huts.
Higher – Abseiling , Cave exploration, Rock Climbing and trekking ( Part 1 )
Higher group divided into groups engaged in either one of the following activities - abseiling group, rock climbing group and cave exploration and trekking. Students learned to conquer their fear of heights and understood the true meaning of perseverance as they scaled the cliff face or rappelled down. They also learned endurance, dexterity and teamwork through cave exploration and trekking, appreciating the wonders of nature. Groups swap activities and have an hour’s rest before they go for dinner. After dinner, it was a moment of confidence building and navigation as they participated in solo drop with the guidance of their trainers and guides, within the darkness of the night.
